This is only up to the end of 2017. We are told this purchase of single-family homes has no effect because the percentage is so small compared to the entire market. However, that’s because those claiming that do not understand (or in some cases, do understand, but do not want us to) how house prices work. In short, homes are priced at the margin. Therefore, with a smart purchasing strategy, the market can be influenced fairly easily. This is exactly what is being done.

I don’t usually embed Twitter stuff as who knows when it will disappear (just take too-large screenshots), but that is hella precise. It says “airstrike” but with what? I know the Ukrainians probably won’t release that but the explosion was fairly contained and had no pyro at all. My guess is that it was a bunker-penetrating bomb with minimal explosive yield to bring the building down but not do a lot of collateral damage.

But nice strike. Wonder what platform that came off of.

I think it also bothers people I that I am self-elevating, not self-deprecating. You’re just not supposed to do that. It’s seen as déclassé. As unkind. As being a bully (for some reason).

But doing things and being things I was not supposed to do or to be is how I escaped North Florida and I regret fucking nothing. Often, I was the only one elevating myself. For many, many years literally everyone else including my own goddamn family was telling me how much I sucked and how terrible I was.

And I won in life because I had a big ego, a strong sense of self, or whatever you choose to call it. I personally don’t give a single shit what it’s called, however. I lived because I persevered against very long odds through all of that absolute hell with that overlarge ego. And with a little help from my friends.

In many ways, my dad was not a good father. He was very different from me, or even my sister, and didn’t really understand either of us. He was overly critical while offering really no guidance to speak of on how to be better, on how to improve.

But one thing of use I did get from him is when someone complained incessantly about something without making any effort to change it, he’d say, “If you actually cared that much, you’d have already done something about it.” And I think that’s quite a valuable insight. That’s one of the reasons I am so critical of fail-promoting movements like Fat Acceptance and inceldom. They wallow. They revel in their failure. They do not want to get better.

Some people look at it as bullying if you tell people they could improve their situation and do not mince words about it. Whatevs. I’m truly glad someone did that for me. My father’s insight there is one of the reasons I decided to join the army, which was probably the best thing I ever did with my life.

If it’s bullying to say, “You know, maybe, just maybe, you could improve your life,” so be it I guess.
