Only Capitalist-Approved Messages

The Reddit mods have spent absolutely vast amounts of time and effort removing anything that portrayed UHC or capitalism in a negative light. They were fake-justifying this censorship with “not glorifying violence,” but it had zero to do with that in actuality. This crackdown was of course in service of being and remaining advertiser-friendly since Reddit is a capitalist enterprise and advertising-driven.

It’s an unenviable task, in many ways. Reddit mods are not paid, yet they must act as subservient thralls to the whims of forces that demand their fawning servility. At the same time, they must pretend they are suppressing valid dissent for the good of the community. Neither are things that I could or would do.

The fact is that in the US that nearly everyone knows someone who was killed by UHC or a similar organization denying them healthcare. That’s where the anger comes from. That’s why people (including me) are celebrating the death of the sociopath CEO.

And try as it might, Reddit will not be able to keep that hidden.

Not So Confirmed

Oh, I see you’ve worked with the same HR people I have:

At one company, HR got names wrong routinely. As I always do, I set the person up as specified and spelled in the ticket. A few days later the HR person asked me why I did it wrong and I said, “That’s how it was in the ticket.” They then — get this — asked me why I hadn’t looked the person up on the internet to verify the name was spelled correctly. Ok, Broette, I am literally never going to do that. That is not my job and anyway, how would I know it’s the right person?

Another notable incident: I shipped out a laptop and gear to a new person starting in a week or so. The gear went to the “wrong” address. I looked back at the ticket to verify the “confirmed shipping address.” That was the address I’d sent it to and the address the equipment was received at. Of course, it was not the person’s actual address. HR then proceeded to get into a snit that I did not verify that the “confirmed shipping address” was the actual shipping address. I told them that this was not my job and I would always assume the “confirmed shipping address” was exactly what it said.

And then it happened a second time….

Both

I like Aella, but this is a fucking idiotic take. It’s both, of course. That dude was a sociopath and the system sucks. He very much deserved death. That assassination was justice and the system itself should be torn down and reconstituted completely to be fair and equitable.

Why is that so fucking hard to understand? Aella is sex worker, but she’s also fairly right-wing in a lot of ways (this is more common than you think).

Quixote

The Covidians are still banging on about wearings masks everywhere? Dang.

I’ve been traveling a lot in the past coupla weeks and I’ve probably seen 30,000 or so people in hotels or airports well enough to glimpse their faces. A total of three were wearing masks.

Three.

Face it, Covidians, you lost. Now you’re just tilting at windmills and looking clownish the entire time.

Structures

I think we got lucky with this house we bought; there don’t seem to be any major structural issues or water damage undetected in the initial inspection. A lot of houses from the 1970s and 1980s do have those sort of problems that the sellers attempt to hide.

The main problem seems to be electrical oddness. One of the circuits in the garage has gone out and we’ve yet to call an electrician to repair it. (No, it’s not a breaker tripped and needing to be reset.) Still, the electrical systems here are more reliable than our prior rental where it was so unstable that our TV would blink off routinely in the middle of watching shows and movies.

So we’re happy so far. Have also seen no demons or malevolent ghosts. Yet.
