Of the non-Russians, what is it that makes them hate Ukraine so much, to wish for genocide on that people and nation? What makes someone like Ian Welsh be like he is? I have nothing at all in common with the terrible humans who seem to want that nation and those who live there destroyed, all for the glorification of a human waste bin like Putin.
I don’t think I will ever understand how abhorrent some people are. And I’m no saint myself.
I’m not sick of it yet, but it’s certainly true that IT is the only field where you have to learn approximately a bachelor’s degree worth of knowledge every 2-3 years. You’re always running as fast as you can to stand still. And usually not even managing that.
Note that I am not saying that other fields don’t require learning. They do. But nothing compared to IT, where new technologies are often introduced, become ubiquitous, and then enter obsolescence in five years.
It does wear on one after a while.

It’s been pretty clear for a while that Russia is starting to run out of equipment. That’s the whole reason they’d use unarmed and unarmored civilian vehicles in assaults, even with as careless with human life as Russia tends to be.
When you’re a military photojournalist, you’re mostly creating pro-military propaganda.
But what I didn’t realize when I was in is that it’s no different in the civilian world. When you’re a civilian journalist, you’re mostly doing pro-establishment and pro-corporate propaganda.
You just get paid worse overall total comp with even fewer benefits.
