We are planning now what electronics and imported stuff we are going to buy in the next few weeks and months because those sorts of goods are going to get radically more expensive soon or just become unavailable altogether.

I feel truly terrible for what’s about to happen to Ukraine over the next year or so. The death and destruction will make what’s occurring there now seem like a fun day in the park.
There is certainly hatred there; that aspect of conservatism should not be ignored. Yes, Trump’s win was mostly concern and betrayal about inflation but this is also an aspect that is present in the diseased soul of conservatism: they don’t want anyone to have anything for “free,” especially anyone young or, even worse, young and a woman or anyone in any other category they despise.
Lest we forget, the core conservatard voter is a Fox News-infected, conspiracy-shouting, vaccine-denying, science-spurning, woman-hating, coal-rolling, homophobic dipshit.
And we should not forget that.
All the countries about to be under the heel of Russia and China, you better start building out some nuclear weapons with great alacrity or you will soon be crushed.
American protection is done and you do not have much time. Do this or become a colony of Russia and/or China.
Every single one of you motherfuckers was wrong about why Musk bought Twitter1 and I was right. You were clowning on him for “losing money” but I understood the game he was playing because I’d be doing the same thing myself if I had that much scratch. As a financial transaction, it never made sense; but it was never about the financials and was always a political project.
I’m terrible at forecasting political outcomes, but just about everything else I’m pretty damn good at it.

California was a good strategic move for us. Here, we will be insulated from most of the worst of the decline Trump will force on our nation. Not all of it by any means. But in many ways, California is kind of its own country and that benefit of insularity and size is certainly a great thing now as we go into a long bleak time of diminution and corruption.
To re-tool something Mencken allegedly said, the electorate voted for this cataclysm and they are going to get it good and hard.
No one will be spared, but being a bit protected is better than nothing.

No. It was inflation and the gaslighting around it. That’s it, that’s all.
And the US is fucked for a generation because of it, thanks to us electing Trump. And the world, too.
Inflation pain helped secure Trump win but his policies mean higher prices.
The pain of inflation and Americans being lied to about it was 80% of the reason Trump won, if not more. Trump actually won’t do jack shit to help with this (quite the opposite), but the Dems largely caused this through their arrogance and inaction.
Trump’s initiatives will lead to higher prices and very likely a crashed economy, but the average voter is not very smart and not very analytical so they are just lashing out like an incel. And will do about as much good.
