Chill Rant

These threads are always puzzling to me because with rare exception I don’t want to chat or “connect’ with anyone in any office or at work and I don’t want to know anyone there on a personal level.

My co-workers are not my friends, nor do I want them to be. It does not mean I can’t be friendly with them; I am perfectly polite and approachable. I am not a jerk. But none are my friends because the reality is most would toss me under the bus if it came down to their job or me.

That is the actual reality of the working world.

I know I’m unusual and my reaction to that thread highlights it, I think. Terrible extroverts are gonna always attempt to get me to RTO, and I will always give a big hearty laugh and a loud FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUU.

Agreed. Women do not in general understand men and men’s culture nearly as well as they like to imagine they do. Mostly, they have no clue while deluding themselves into believing they know everything. I don’t quite understand why, but I know that is the case. The problem is not that they do not comprehend how men’s culture works. It’s that they believe they do and make vast and preventable mistakes because of their misapprehension.

Men do not commit this error. Most just admit they do not understand women or their culture and leave it at that. That is a better end state.

My sister was the golden child of the family. Once she was born, I was pretty much ignored. She was cuter, more charismatic, more cheerful and more extroverted and more eager to please.

Whereas I was not any of those things. I was contrary, irascible, not cute, and more than happy to argue adults into vitriolic anger and very averse to pleasing anyone. In most ways, I was actually content to be overlooked and ignored. I am naturally an introvert and was this way from a very young age. I believe my early experiences of being the unfavored child and then bullied for years amplified this tendency, but it was already pretty dang strong congenitally before any of that occurred.

As I said, I mostly was happy to be ignored. People not paying attention to me allowed me to do what I wanted to do and that was better than the alternative.

Mainly, though, I just hated being saddled with the responsibility for taking care of and watching my sister constantly while I received all the derision and blame for both anything she did wrong or that I did wrong. And all the while, people gleefully praised her for the most minor accomplishment while not even acknowledging that I did things like score at a 12.9 grade level (the highest possible grade level) in all subjects on a state-wide standardized test when I was in fourth fucking grade1. (My dad: “Must have been some kind of fluke.” Readers, it was not a fluke.)

That was not cool.

  1. My teacher told me I was the only one in the county who’d done that, and one of three kids in the state.

Something I think that women in general do not understand about men walking at night or whatever is that we run about the same risk as getting assaulted (though not sexually assaulted, which does matter), we just don’t care as much.

And that makes a difference! We take more risks, even when the risk is greater. Women imagine men live in this fairy-tale-like peril-free state where we do whatever we want. But no. That ain’t the way it is. Women are just more neurotic (in the clinical sense) and risk-averse than men. Women will not do something even when the actual danger for them is lower than it is for men. On average, of course! People are all different and the sexes have some overlap.

Nature, nurture, who the fuck knows? And it’s an admixture of all that and more of course. I’m mainly trying to dispel the notion that men live in this risk-free utopia. Nope. We just accept the risk and move on with our lives and still get shit done.

A good sign that most people are in fact clown-ass dipshits (whether on the right or the left) is that their opinion on the health of economy undergoes a 180 degree shift the minute someone of the opposite political party become president. And that is with no changes in the economy itself, of course.

Critical thinking altogether lacking. How do people live like that?

This is ok and all, but the reality is that Trump would’ve won no matter what. Harris was an ok candidate who ran a decent campaign.

An amazing candidate with a flawless campaign would’ve still lost. When there is widespread discontent combined with a huge sectoral shift in the voting public, no campaign can overcome that. The only difference would’ve been that some other notional candidate better than Harris would’ve lost by a lesser margin.

People are looking for all these complex explanations for a simple event: the electorate was fed up with those in control and being lied to about inflation, and with their extremely short memories1 they lashed out at who holds the reins of power.

And we’re gonna see how that turns out.

  1. The average person basically recalls nothing at all that happened more than two years ago, and very little from six months ago.

That’s hilarious. I used to get comments like that on my old, much-more-popular blog. They were basically, “I hate you and everything you write! I will be religiously reading and commenting on every post, which is always wrong and terrible!”

This video feels lazy. I’d much rather see her playing her bass, because she’s amazing at that.
