Country music can capture a set of feelings that no other genre can: that of abject existential regret and soul-deep anguish. That’s when it’s at its very best and why I love it.

Gatherers
Always remember all Chinese companies must assist with espionage. Treat them all like subsidiaries of the CCP. https://t.co/8FwMx6LQdw
— Michael Ron Bowling (@mrbcyber) March 26, 2025
People claim the US does the same thing. Sometimes, sort of. But the difference is that any Chinese company is actually under the full control of the CCP. They are all extended intelligence-gathering operations by design. It is one of their primary purposes.
And who would want that?
Reportedly
Woman-on-woman sexual harassment. Has anyone experienced this?
Was told this never happens. Probably far more common than we think because I bet it’s almost never reported (far below even male-female harassment report levels).
By way of anecdote I’ve personally known two women who were being sexually harassed by other women and nope, they never reported it.
Getting Done
There is exactly one generation that can rotate a pdf and there will never be another. The knowledge dies with us. https://t.co/UxZ043C2Kz

Only Gen X and older Millennials know how to use a computer to get anything done. The rest are utterly incompetent. It’s sad because smartphones and tablets are only 1/1000 as powerful as even the worst computer.
Zomb
Before ChatGPT, I thought philosophical zombies were a cool thought experiment but impossible.
Now I realize I was wrong. They are possible. And they will be here soon. I’m still uncertain what that says about humanity in general, if anything.
Unbeerlievable
just heard an older guy refer to a 12-pack of beer a night after work as a "normal amount"
excuse me?

I once witnessed my mom drink two 18-packs of Coors Light (her preferred poison) in about three hours. Yes, that’s 36 12-ounce beers. And yes, that’s fucking insane.
By the way, she was 5’2″ and weighed maybe 140 pounds.
Internal
After they hand-wash my car with a toothbrush, I point them at more advanced tasks like organizing the office supplies by color, size and country of origin. Then when that’s done, I make them put on a jester costume and cavort. If there is not enough cavorting, a taser can solve that most of the time.
Following their generous three minute lunch, I have them really dig into some work by doing some important gardening at my house. They must rent all the tools from me, of course. It’s only fair.
After that, I list them as dependents on my taxes and open some credit cards in their names.
And that’s a good start in the American economy for any intern.
Moniturd
Actual conversation I had today at work (on Slack, paraphrased and condensed to remove company information and for clarity):
Them: (User) has an ongoing issue that needs to be resolved and hasn’t been fixed by your team.
Me: Ok, what’s the ticket number? I looked through the queue and didn’t see anything from that person.
Them: They haven’t put in a ticket for the issue.
Me: No worries, did they let anyone know to it was a problem so we could enter a ticket and work on it?
Them: No, they mentioned it to me [their manager] and said no one had fixed it yet.
Me: So there was no ticket and they didn’t let anyone know about the problem?
Them: No, but it still needs to be fixed as it’s been broken for a while and it’s causing them to miss meetings. Isn’t your team monitoring things?
Me: We have monitoring in place for all infrastructure, but we have no way of knowing about anything being non-functional if it’s never reported. We do not monitor every single bit of functionality of every application on every single computer out there. That’s just not possible.
Readers, the “broken” thing was that the user had turned notifications off for Outlook and forgot or didn’t know how to turn them back on. And then never reported it or even Googled the issue. Ain’t no monitoring in the got-damn universe would ever catch that.
Landed
Ukraine Was Just Knifed In The Back.
Well, guess we’ll be fighting in Poland soon. Awesome (Narrator: It was in fact not awesome.)
DOGE Gone
I’ve been planning for Social Security not to exist when I retire and looks like DOGE might make that happen. Glad I started planning for that more than 20 years ago.
Poverty rate is gonna jump and elderly are gonna be dying in the streets. But we all knew it was coming. Well, the smart ones did. The rich absolutely despise Social Security and covet that money. It was only a matter of time before they stole it all.
Straight Date
What is the worst advice a woman has ever give you?
Any advice from women on how to date women (unless she herself is a lesbian) is terrible. It’ll fail you completely. It’s the worst advice in the universe. If you like being friendzoned1 instantly, use dating advice from straight women.
Women aren’t deliberately lying here, most of the time. It’s just that most people aren’t very introspective, are attempting to make themselves look better and want to believe the highest ideals of themselves (especially) and others (to some extent).
But ain’t a bit of it true nor helpful.

Damn. Modern war is so demonic.
If I were Ukrainian, I’d be doing the same thing. But again — damn.
