Roof Proof
In the time it’s sunny here (mid-March through November), we generate so much electricity that we’re net producers:
Tons of big-ass solar panels on the roof. Depending on when we use electricity and when/if we have to run the AC, our power bill often goes down instead of up. If it stays sunny the next few days, it’ll likely go negative for electricity charges (power company will be crediting us).
Bring Back Design
Late ’00s/early ’10s UI design was so much better than the boring bland designs of today.
This is more than just opinion too. Back then, software and OSes were created based on actual long-established design principles and were tested pretty extensively with real users in near-real-world scenarios.
None of that happens anymore. It’s all fake telemetry, MBA/designer vibes and feelings. Nothing is tested. Well-known and well-established design practices are tossed out the window as “outmoded.” Absurd movements like flat design where what is clickable is concealed have overtaken all, leading to unusable interfaces where the most important actions are hidden all because it looks better to some MBA who sees it for seven seconds on a PowerPoint slide while gronked out on ketamine.
And the hamburger menu is a design travesty.
Design from when the user was centered — rather than advertisers, MBAs and designers — was thus far superior.
Vax Lacks
Am I crazy or was anti-vax originally far left-wing?
It was always a bit of both, but the far left-wing was dominant (maybe 60% of anti-vaxxers) up until 2015-ish or so. Then the right wing really started going batshit about then and now anti-vax clowns are about 70% MAGA dumbasses.
It’ll probably trade off again one day. Meanwhile, dozens of thousands will die easily-preventable deaths.
And yes, people will attempt to gaslight you, claiming it was “always” and only a right-wing thing to be anti-vax. History says different.
